 M ind at Large explores the nature of reality Important Distinction: The "Mind at Large" Concept It is worth noting that the title refers to a famous philosophical concept. While Oliver Frances uses it for his fiction, the term was originally popularized by  Aldous Huxley  in his 1954 book  The Doors of Perception . Huxley's Definition:  He proposed that the human mind acts as a " reducing valve " that filters out the vast majority of reality to help us survive. He called the unfiltered, total reality  " Mind at Large ,"  which he believed could be accessed through psychedelics (like mescaline) or mystical states.
